Transform Health Annual Report 2024

Message from our Executive Committee

We would like to thank all our partners and donors for making 2024 such a successful year.

Over the last year Transform Health has reaffirmed its strategic significance and value to the digital health and wider universal health coverage (UHC) sector. Working with partners at local, national, regional and global levels, Transform Health has deepened its engagement around its core strategic priorities, notably through the national coalitions, now established across five priority countries, Kenya, Indonesia, Ecuador, Mexico and Senegal. Here coalition partners have been shaping regulatory and policy priorities, such as on the implementation of the Digital health Act in Kenya, the development of digital health policies in Ecuador.

On health data governance, Transform Health has taken the Health Data Governance Principles forward through a set of tools that include a Model Law (a blueprint and flexible framework), that provides governments with a non-prescriptive legislative guide and resource that can be used to support efforts to strengthen national laws and frameworks.

Building on the successful launch of the report, Closing the digital divide: More and better funding for the digital transformation of health, Transform Health developed a Digital Health Investment Checklist and worked with partners such as the WHO, the World Bank, OECD and others to advocate for better investment mechanisms to better track and report on funding for digital health.

These successes would not have been possible without the active engagement and support from our coalition partners, in particular the young people who are such an active and important part of the coalition. This year we have the great pleasure to announce the integration of Young Experts in Tech for Health (YET4H) into Transform Health. YET4H will continue to play a leading role in representing young people in the digital health space and the coalition will ensure their continued growth and success.

Message from our Executive Director

Mathilde Forslund

As we conclude a decade of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we have seen the tremendous impact digital health can have in accelerating progress towards UHC. We have also seen a growing recognition by governments, donors and civil society of the need to get the politics right so that the sector can flourish. Without the politics we don't have the leadership, the enabling environment or the resources that will ensure digital transformation accelerates health for all.

Transform Health continues to push for political support, along with adequate legislation, regulation, policies and funding, that we collectively believe will lead to the digital transformation of health systems at scale and in a sustainable manner. This Annual Report details the progress we have made over the last year. This progress is the result of strong partnerships that are made possible by working as part of a coalition. This collective effort is the hallmark of Transform Health and at the heart of our approach. I look forward to working with all our partners as we enter the final five years of the SDGs.

Join us on our journey to 2030!
