Building political will and creating an enabling environment
National coalitions
Transform Health has an established presence in Kenya, Senegal, Indonesia, Ecuador and Mexico. The national coalitions are at different stages of maturity. Kenya and Indonesia were established in 2022, Ecuador in 2023, and Mexico and Senegal were set up this year*.
Over the last year Transform Health national coalitions have been building public and political support for digital health, and shaping legislation, regulation, policy, planning, and training and capacity development.
* Coalitions are set up in two phases. During the first six months partners agree on the governance structure and composition of the coalition, conduct a landscape analysis of the digital health enabling environment and develop a strategy collectively that responds to the country and population needs. The coalitions then transition to phase two - the implementation phase.
Prioritising digital health on global political agendas
Global intergovernmental fora such as the G20, the World Health Assembly (WHA) and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) are important moments where governments come together to agree on priorities and collective action to address common challenges. These discussions then filter into national policies and priorities. Transform Health has been actively promoting digital health and data as a means of achieving UHC at key global intergovernmental fora, conferences, mechanisms and processes. Our engagement has contributed to a shift in perception and understanding of digital health and a recognition of its vital role in accelerating UHC. This is reflected in the documents and declarations that emerge from these events.
Digital Health Week
Digital Health Week 2024 (from 4 to 10 November) was a great success! This year Digital Health Week was organised around six themes:
